Banquet and Awards

Banquet Room The World Fantasy Awards will be presented Sunday, November 4, following (and in the same room as) the afternoon banquet, which will be held in the York Ballroom A. Seating will begin at 12:30pm and the banquet itself will begin at 1pm. Banquet tickets cost $70 CDN per person for a four-course luncheon including two bottles of wine for each table, all applicable taxes, gratuities, and service charges. Banquet tickets are not included in the cost of your membership, nor do banquet tickets include admission to the convention. Everyone attending the banquet must be a member of the convention and must also have a separate banquet ticket.

The Executive Chef of the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North has developed a special four-course menu for World Fantasy 2012, featuring seasonal Canadian ingredients.

All meals will consist of:
 Selection of fresh baked rolls with butternut squash tapenade
 Warm smoked arctic char, maple syrup and mustard seed sauce, bagel chips, new potatoes, Cookstown baby arugula and leek salad, capers and red onions
 Saskatchewan wild rice soup with Bala dried cranberries
 Choice of Entrée, served with garlic Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, Holland Marsh seasonal vegetables:
• Roasted strip loin of beef, with wild mushrooms, Niagara Riesling, and natural juices;
• Supreme of chicken filled with city-grown mushrooms, bulgur wheat, and local herbs, Niagara chardonnay and natural juices;
• Portobello mushroom stack, with grilled sweet peppers, liquid polenta, goat cheese and ratatouille
 Fresh baked butter tart with Chantilly cream
 Parkway blend of imported coffee and teas
 Each table will receive one bottle of white and one bottle of red wine

Additional wines will be available for purchase by the bottle, and there will be a cash bar adjacent to the banquet for other beverages.

If you have food allergies or any other dietary restrictions please contact by Wednesday, October 17, 2012. We will work with you and the hotel to accommodate your needs to the extent possible.

Online banquet ticket orders, including whole tables, should be made before Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Orders for banquet tickets sent by mail must be received before Wednesday, October 17, 2012.

Unreserved seating will be at tables of six or eight. Publishers and others who wish to purchase an entire table ($560 CDN for 8 settings) should contact Rina Weisman at Please include "Whole Table Purchase" in the subject header of your email.

We do not expect seats to be available at the door. Should seats be available at the door, they will be available for purchase from Registration until noon on Friday, although it is unlikely that all entree choices would be available. Banquet seating is otherwise on a first come basis. We will place requests on a waiting list in the order received once we reach our maximum seating. Open seating purchasers will receive their physical ticket with their registration materials at the convention. You must have your physical ticket to be seated in the banquet and the ticket must be available for display at your table to assist the servers.

For those who wish to attend only the awards ceremony, non-banquet seating will be provided at the back of the room. Entry will be at approximately 2:30 pm or when the banquet is over, whichever is earlier. There is no ticket required, but seating may be limited.
